- The $12.3 million two-storey teaching block ‘Pudjak’ includes 10 new classrooms
Caversham Valley Primary School has officially opened its new two-storey teaching block, Pudjak, marking a major milestone for the school community and the future of education in the area.
The opening ceremony was attended by Hon Sabine Winton MLA, Minister for Education alongside students, staff, and special guests. Pudjak represents a $12.3 million investment by the Cook Labor Government to meet growing enrolments and provide state-of-the-art learning spaces.
The new block includes:
- 10 general classrooms, accommodating up to 300 additional students
- A science classroom, staff offices, internal activity areas, toilets, and storage
- A landscaped courtyard and bespoke play area designed to reflect local native flora and fauna
Designed by Site Architecture Studio and constructed by McCorkell Constructions, Pudjak combines modern functionality with cultural significance.
This major upgrade reflects the Cook Labor Government’s commitment to ensuring families across Western Australia have access to high-quality school facilities. Caversham Valley Primary School is a popular choice for local families, and the new double-storey block will accommodate growing enrolments while providing modern, inclusive spaces that support teaching and learning for years to come.
Comments attributed to Midland MLA Steve Catania:
“This new facility ensures families in Caversham have access to a modern, inclusive learning environment close to home.
“It was also fantastic to host my Midland Education Forum in the new block prior to its official opening. Bringing together leaders from our local schools to share ideas and strengthen collaboration show how our community is working together to deliver the best outcomes for students.”
Comments attributable to Education Minister Sabine Winton:
“It’s wonderful to see how this project has supported educators, families, and staff in a truly special and meaningful piece of infrastructure.
“Whether it’s The Better and Fairer Schools Agreement, the WA Student Assistance Payment, or new, quality infrastructure, our government will always work hard to ensure that families in Western Australia have access to the best education opportunities.”
