$20,000 COMMITMENT DELIVERED TO SUPPORT SWAN CITY YOUTH SERVICE

30 January 2026

A $20,000 election commitment from Steve Catania has now been delivered to Swan City Youth Service (SCYS), supporting vital equipment and maintenance upgrades that will strengthen the organisation’s day to day operations.

The funding has been invested in practical infrastructure improvements, including new storage cabinets and laptops for staff. These upgrades will improve efficiency, support frontline workers, and enhance SCYS’s ability to deliver services to young people across the community.

SCYS provides essential support to young people facing disadvantage, including counselling, outreach, case management and access to safe, supportive spaces. The service works directly with young people experiencing instability, disengagement or personal crisis, helping them build pathways toward stability and independence.

The delivery of the commitment reflects a focus on ensuring community organisations have the resources they need to operate effectively and continue supporting vulnerable young people across the region.

Comments attributable to Midland MLA Steve Catania:

“Swan City Youth Service does valuable work with young people who often need support the most.
“They are on the ground every day, providing real help and that’s something I value deeply. This commitment was always intended to deliver practical improvements, and I’m pleased to see it now supporting staff with the equipment they need to do their jobs effectively.”

Comments attributable to Swan City Youth Service CEO Rachel Robertson:

“This funding has made a real difference for our team.

“Having reliable equipment and properly fitted storage allows our staff to work more efficiently and focus on what matters most, supporting young people in our community.”
