Midland has always been a place where paths meet. When the Midland Railway Company partnered with the State Government in 1886 to build a line to Geraldton, the town grew rapidly around the railway. By 1894, Midland Junction Station opened, and while the name has changed over time - from Helena Vale to Midland Junction and finally Midland - our identity as the eastern hub has never wavered.
That’s why I’m so pleased that the new Midland Station is opening on 22 February. A modern station means access to jobs, education, and recreation opportunities all whilst strengthening Midland’s role as a gateway for our region.
As a local and as a father of young children, I know how much reliable, accessible and quality public transport means to families in our community. It’s about making commutes easier - ensuring everyone can get where they need to go safely and affordably. That’s why I’m proud to see the Cook Labor Government delivering this project for our community.
We’re so close to realising the benefits of this transformation, and I can’t wait to see Midland continue to thrive and grow as the junction where history meets progress.
